(Montreal Gazette) — Less than a month after the provincial government decided Quebec would no longer provide healthy infants and seniors with free flu shots, Quebec Health Minister Danielle McCann on Friday reversed the decision, saying that authorities want to offer “this protection against the consequences of the flu virus to the greatest possible number of persons.”
The decision to end free seasonal flu shots to healthy infants from six months to 23 months as well as to healthy adults from the ages of 60 to 74 followed the recommendations of a panel of immunization experts.
Free flu shots are also available for pregnant women in their second or third trimester, adults suffering from chronic illnesses as well as anyone who would be in close contact with someone at risk of complications from the illness. (…)
