(Stephanie Ip/ Postmedia) — B.C. boasts the highest percentage of “inconsistent” rule followers when it comes to halting the spread of COVID-19.
A recent Angus Reid poll asked Canadian respondents to identify their habits and attitudes toward the pandemic, categorizing respondents into one of three categories: the infection fighters, the inconsistent, or the cynical spreaders.
The poll found that one in five Canadians (18 per cent) are cynical spreaders — those who do next to nothing to fight COVID-19 and instead, have expanded their social circles, do not abide by physical distancing, and are ambivalent about hand washing and mask wearing.
Meanwhile, 47 per cent of Canadians are infection fighters — those who are strict about following health guidelines — and 36 per cent are inconsistent, those who take a more half-in, half-out approach to flattening the curve.
Within B.C., 18 per cent are cynical spreaders, while 40 per cent are infection fighters. The remaining 42 per cent are inconsistent, the highest percentage in any province, tied only with Manitoba. (…)
